Description

IT is one of the largest nature preserves in the sacramento region and is also a working cattle ranch. Historic mining and land management impacts have altered the landscape, which likely contributed to stream incision and changes to vegetation. These impacts negatively affect the species present, water retention, water quality and soil health of the site. Actions are proposed to promote native species, benefit pollinators, improve habitat quality, improve soil health, and improve water quality and availability to wildlife. Sacramento valley conservancy aims to improve these resources by reducing erosion, planting native plants, and removing invasive species. Actions will enhance ongoing work at the preserve, including work supported in part by the natural resource conservation service, and the point blue conservation science root program.
