About this award
The Cooperative Agreement award, with a total funding of $312,757, is provided by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management under the Fossil Energy Research and Development (CFDA 81.089) federal grant program. The goal of this project is for North Carolina State University (NCSU) to demonstrate their patented Chemical Looping - Oxidative Dehydrogenation (CL-ODH) technology for sustainable and cost-effective ethylene production. The Phase 1 work will focus on in-depth techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle analysis (LCA) based on experimental performance of new catalysts, as well as detailed design of relevant unit operations for the CL-ODH process. NCSU will collaborate with Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, USA (SABIC) on this project, which has a performance period from August 1, 2024 to April 1, 2026.
Description
The goal of this project is for north carolina state university (ncsu) to demonstrate their patented chemical looping - oxidative dehydrogenation (CL-ODH) technology for sustainable and cost-effective ethylene production. The phase 1 work will focus on in-depth techno-economic analysis (tea) and life cycle analysis (LCA) based on the experimental performance of a new generation of catalysts and detailed design of all the relevant unit operations in CL-ODH. During this project, ncsu will work with saudi basic industries corporation, USA (sabic). Ncsu is the prime recipient and lead organization for the project.
