Description

Activities
New york state department of agriculture and markets will conduct a review of current statutory definitions and make changes as needed to be sure the language is inclusive of online retailers. A thorough analysis of digital marketplaces will be conducted to identify growers and/or sellers that are out of compliance and refer them to new york state inspectors or USDA personnel for proper follow-up and correction. Deliverables and expected outcomes: an increase in online sellers of agricultural products becoming registered appropriately in NY, leading to a decrease in unauthorized sales of agricultural products. This will also result in a more level playing field for brick-and-mortar establishments that are easier to regulate that already follow established licensing protocols. Policy updates will also ensure that new york state regulations are enforceable to all sellers. Intended beneficiary(IES): the general public, and nursery growers and dealers in NYS. Subrecipient activities, if known or specified at the time of award: none
