Description
Support ohio's monitoring and diagnostic efforts targeting phytophthora ramorum, the pathogen that causes sudden OAK death, by enabling the collection and testing of soil, container mix, and plant tissue samples from nurseries and trace‑forward locations at elevated risk of receiving infected plant material from western states. Under this agreement, ODA will carry out statewide risk‑based surveys including composite soil sampling at four high‑risk nurseries, follow‑up sampling at approximately twenty locations linked to the 2019 trace‑forward event, laboratory elisa and molecular diagnostics, data entry into aphis‑approved systems, and education of nursery operators regarding pathogen detection and prevention. Deliverables include timely completion of sample collection across two survey periods, accurate processing and diagnostic confirmation of samples, submission of required semi‑annual and final reports, and identification of both positive and negative sites, all of which generate critical presence/absence data to support regulatory decisions and national safeguarding programs. If these activities are not performed, p. Ramorum could go undetected in ohio's nursery pathways, increasing the risk of pathogen establishment, compromising plant industries and forest reso urces, enabling continued movement of infected stock, and undermining efforts to prevent the spread of this destructive pathogen. Cost analysis: personnel-$8,816.00; fringebenefits-$4,408.00. Supplies(lab supplies, gloves, shipping, bags, etc.)-$654.00. Other(vehi CLE mileage)-$2,800.00. Indirect cost @15% of personnel-$1,322.00.
