Engaging somalis in peaceful political processes (ES3P)

The Bringing Unity, Integrity, Legitimacy, and Democracy (BUILD) cooperative agreement from the United States Agency for International Development East Africa Regional Program (USAID - OM) aims to support peaceful political processes in Somalia through a variety of subgrants. Subgrantees such as Consilient LIMITED Company, HLDI, Rift Valley Research LIMITED, International Republican Institute, M2A, BBC Media Action, and the Electoral Institute For Sustainable Democracy In Africa (EISA) work on activities like conducting surveys, facilitating national dialogues, training political parties, developing advocacy campaigns, increasing media coverage of political and civic issues, strengthening civil society networks, developing civic and voter education, supporting citizen monitoring of elections, and building capacity for peaceful elections. The $31.5 million grant runs from March 2016 to June 2022 and focuses on increasing knowledge of political processes, supporting inclusive politics, and engaging Somalis in peaceful political engagement.
