Description

However, january, february, and march 2022 were the driest months that have been reported in over a century. These extreme drought conditions are drastically impacting the volume and frequency of precipitation required for natural recharge, and declines in surface and groundwater supplies are being realized. In response, the city of sacramento is prioritizing projects that will offset the city's reliance on surface waters of the sacramento delta and increase service reliability such as the fairbairn groundwater well project. The fairbairn groundwater well was drilled, cased, and gravel packed in 2016. However, due to unanticipated levels of manganese and arsenic additional treatment is needed. Therefore, the proposed project will complete the wellhead construction including arsenic and manganese treatment systems, backwash tank, motor control cabinet, electrical control building, discharge piping and valves, storm drainage and sewer piping, and chemical feed equipment site improvements. This assistance agreement provides full federal funding in the amount of $1,700,000.
