The award provides full federal funding for two primary infrastructure deliverables at the city's wastewater treatment plant (WWTP): the installation of a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic liner in an existing retention basin to improve wastewater flow management during peak flows and wet weather storage, and the construction of a new pump station within the basin's footprint to return stored wastewater to the WWTP headworks.
These infrastructure improvements are designed to protect groundwater quality, reduce operational power consumption, decrease mechanical equipment wear and tear, and enhance overall operational efficiency and wastewater effluent quality for the city's 12,800 customers. The project completion date is January 31, 2028, with no subawards included in the agreement.
