Description

Activities include gathering light detection and ranging (lidar) data, hyperspectral imagery, drone imagery, and elevation data. The collected data will be integrated with existing data on marsh accretion rates and elevation change to derive stability metrics that reflect marsh resiliency. Deliverables include a new tidal datum dataset, digital elevation maps, marsh edge morphology maps and hyperspectral imagery showing changes in land cover and habitat type as well as the strength in carbon sequestration associated with the different vegetation assemblages. Outcomes from this project include better informed, data driven decisions by coastal managers, wetland practitioners and other stakeholders that will lead to the persistence of more wetlands and better-quality wetlands under conditions of accelerated SLR.
