Description

The proposed work will advance the emerging worlds program's objectives to investigate the formation and evolution of the solar system specifically the "accretion of bodies after dissipation of the protoplanetary disk" for processes that "were most prominent up to the time that large planetary bodies were in or near their modern configuration" and "to provide context for the interpretation of solar system observations" (roses-23 appx. C.2). MMX is scheduled to launch with NASA's megane instrument in 2026 so these projects offer a time-critical opportunity to directly enable the primary mission objectives to determine the origin of mars's moons and will increase our wider understanding of the general mechanisms of tidal disruption large impacts and satellite formation.
