USAID mizana to lower threats to natural resources and biodiversity in madagascar

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a $1,658,290 Cooperative Agreement to Alliance Voahary Gasy (AVG), a non-profit organization in Madagascar, under the USAID Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas (CFDA 98.001) program. The five-year grant, which runs from April 9, 2024 to April 8, 2029, aims to lower threats to natural resources and biodiversity in Madagascar through the "MIZANA" project.

AVG, which has previously worked as a subcontractor on USAID's Mikajy project, will collaborate with local communities, conduct research and monitoring, implement biodiversity conservation activities, and promote sustainable natural resource management practices. This prime grant award builds on AVG's prior experience and demonstrates the organization's growing capacity to lead large-scale conservation efforts in Madagascar, contributing to USAID's broader Foreign Assistance Program objectives in the country.
