The civic engagement activity is to enhance citizen participation in social and political processes in uganda, with a particular focus on youth

This Cooperative Agreement, awarded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), provides $4,500,000 in funding for a civic engagement activity to enhance citizen participation in social and political processes in Uganda, with a particular focus on youth. The activity has three key objectives: 1) Increasing citizens' civic awareness and agency, 2) Organizing citizens and providing them opportunities to participate in civic and political processes, and 3) Encouraging citizens to engage and demand political accountability from their leaders. The federal grant program supporting this award is USAID's Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas (CFDA 98.001), which funds a wide range of international development initiatives. The sub-awardee for this activity is the African Youth Development Link, a vendor located in Uganda. The award period runs from December 17, 2024 to May 15, 2028.

The activity has three intermediate objectives: citizens' civic awareness and agency is increased; citizens are organized and have opportunities to participate in civic and political processes; and citizens engage and demand political accountability from their leaders.
