About this award
This $800,000 Cooperative Agreement awarded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas (CFDA 98.001) program aims to create a sustainable and scalable model of bamboo production, value addition, and sale in rural India. The award will support a collective of 7,500 farmers and 3,600 women artisans to own and manage the end-to-end bamboo value chain, from cultivating bamboo to producing and marketing value-added products. The funding will help establish environmentally and financially sustainable bamboo-based livelihoods, with a focus on empowering women through the project. The award was made to the Indus Tree Crafts Foundation, a foreign-owned, woman-owned non-profit organization, and will be implemented over a 5-year period from July 2023 to July 2028.
