The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, Inc. (NASBLA) received a $285,000 cooperative agreement from the U.S. Coast Guard under the National Nonprofit Organization Recreational Boating Safety Grant Program (CFDA 97.135) for the period of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. NASBLA will expand the Operation Dry Water campaign, a nationwide initiative designed to reduce alcohol and drug-related boating incidents by addressing alcohol, the leading factor in boating deaths. The program will deliver a three-day enforcement weekend coordinated near July 4th, a national kickoff event, and multilingual public education campaigns.
By combining targeted law enforcement activities with coordinated media outreach, this award supports behavior change among recreational boaters nationwide. The integrated enforcement and education approach aligns with the Coast Guard's mission to ensure safe, secure, and enjoyable recreational boating experiences by minimizing loss of life, personal injury, and property damage. This award represents one of six cooperative agreements totaling $1.422 million awarded to NASBLA in the most recent funding cycle, reflecting the organization's substantial role in advancing the Coast Guard's recreational boating safety mission.
