Description
- Purpose
- The purpose of this project is to develop large public datasets from new sequencing technologies for public genomes from the genome in a bottle consortium and NIST reference materials.
- Activities
- This proposal aims to generate high quality nanopore sequencing datasets required to characterize new tumor/normal cell lines that will likely become the first reference materials of their kind. Furthermore, the proposed transcriptome sequencing will further improve characterization and utility of the giab referencematerials.
- Expected outcomes
- The proposed work will accomplish important objectives related to the NIST work on developing human genome reference materials and data. This work will provide important, public data for NIST?s human genome reference materials that will be broadly useful to the community for bioinformatics and technology development, optimization, and demonstration, as well as clinical validation of genomic assays.
- Intended beneficiaries
- The technologies that are developed through this project could be applied to developing new genomics bioinformatics methods by academic and commercial laboratories, because these will be unique public data for broadly available human genomes. These fully public data for broadly consented samples would be the first of theirkind for tumor and normal genomes.
- Subrecipient activities
- The recipient does not intend to subaward funds.
