About this award
This $250,000 cooperative agreement from the United States Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture's Food and Agriculture Defense Initiative (FADI, CFDA #10.304) program will support the South Dakota Animal Disease Research & Diagnostics Laboratory's (ADRDL) continued partnership with the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) through July 31, 2022. ADRDL will leverage its diagnostic capabilities, quality systems, information technology infrastructure, financial resources, and administrative functions to assist NAHLN in monitoring for, detecting, and responding to potential emergencies involving animal disease outbreaks such as avian influenza or foot-and-mouth disease. Specifically, ADRDL will validate test methods, share real-time data with stakeholders, participate in emergency preparedness exercises, conduct disease monitoring activities, and provide other NAHLN support services as needed. This collaboration enhances national preparedness for emerging and existing threats to animal health, agriculture, and the food supply.
