The national policing institute will use FY24 CPD invitational funding to supplement the supporting law enforcement agency accreditation project, currently funded by the office of community oriented policing services. This funding will be used to set up and maintain an online community of practice (COP), utilizing technology to facilitate conversations, share information, and support law enforcement agencies seeking accreditation. The COP will provide a unique, stimulating, and impactful environment for peer-to-peer engagement and resource dissemination. This platform will also allow personnel from law enforcement agencies participating in the cops offices supporting law enforcement agencies seeking accreditation grant program to receive real-time assistance and learn from subject matter experts and each other; without the need to leave their jurisdiction and incur travel costs. This work will enhance the capacity of law enforcement to implement community policing by providing guidance on evidence-informed and best practices for accreditation a process consistently observed in research to be associated with agencies implementation of community-oriented strategies.
