Description

Activities
Include the emplacement of two class/age sizes of oysters in the subtidal zone near coden, alabama and the analysis of oyster tissue and water and sediment samples to determine concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus. Anticipated deliverables and outcomes include a better understanding of using restored oyster reef filtration capacity as a method to address wastewater discharges and nutrient pollution in the near shore environment. Nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations in water columns, oysters, and sediments will be monitored and quantified. Biological success will be defined by the presence of oysters demonstrating spawning behavior during quarterly samplings that correlate with expected spawning seasons (summer and fall). The citizens inhabiting and utilizing nearshore/estuarine systems will benefit from improved water quality.activities:.subrecipient:no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.outcomes:deliverables and outcomes include a better understanding of using restored oyster reef filtration capacity as a method to address wastewater discharges and nutrient pollution in the near shore environment.
