Description
This agreement provides funding to city of craig to implement its project to install emergency generators at its water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant as directed in the 2022 consolidated appropriations act or as identified in an approved technical correction if one has been approved for this project.activities:the activities to be performed are purchasing and installing emergency generators and associated equipment at the city of craig's water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant. A pad-mounted diesel emergency generator and transfer switch will be provided for the water treatment plant, which will be able to run all of the treatment plant's electrical equipment to allow the city to continue to produce potable drinking water for its customers. A pad-mounted diesel emergency generator and transfer switch will be provided to power the blowers and pumps associated with the wastewater treatment plant's oxidation ditches. All new pieces of critical equipment will be protected from flooding, by concrete equipment pads/pedestals and grading. All electrical portions of equipment will SIT 3 feet above the base flood elevation or 100-year flood elevation, per the freeboard valve approach to ensure compliance with the federal flood risk management standard (ffrms). The project is to be approved by the local floodplain administrator prior to construction. The resultant permit will be provided to the city's EPA administrator. All new pieces of critical equipment will also be protected from fire damage using a defensible space zone strategy. Thus, 0-5 FT outside of the generators all dry grasses and foliage (fuel) will be removed or the generator will be surrounded by non-combustible materials (asphalt). Additionally, 5-30 FT outside the generator dry grasses and foliage (fuel) will be observed regularly to ensure their growth does not indicate increased fire risk.subrecipient:no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.outcomes:the anticipated deliverables are new generators, which are expected to lead to increase system resilience for the residents of craig.
