The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (WVDHHR), through its Bureau for Public Health, has been awarded a $1,322,043 Block Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Block Grants for Community Mental Health Services program (CFDA 93.958). This 2-year grant, effective September 30, 2023 through September 29, 2025, will enable WVDHHR to implement a comprehensive plan for delivering community-based mental health services to adults with serious mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbances in the state of West Virginia. Funded services may include outpatient counseling, substance abuse treatment, crisis intervention, case management, housing assistance, peer support, workforce training, and public education campaigns. As the prime recipient, WVDHHR may issue sub-awards to county governments, community mental health centers, non-profits, tribes, and other local organizations to deliver these mental health services within individual communities across the state.
