The Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service awarded $2,285,714.29 under the Micro-Grants for Food Security Program (CFDA #10.179) to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources for the period of September 30, 2022 through September 29, 2026. The award will support the Alaska Division of Agriculture's Micro-Grants for Food Security Program, which aims to increase the quantity and quality of locally grown food through small-scale gardening, herding, and livestock operations in food insecure communities in Alaska. Specifically, the Division will conduct a grant proposal opening in 2022 to award micro-grants of $100,000 or less to individuals, tribes, non-profits, and other qualifying entities for local food production projects. The funding and sub-grants will help address food insecurity across Alaska by supporting small-scale agriculture and livestock activities.
