The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Phase I contract to Harp Engineering LLC, a woman-owned small business, to develop a new low-cost, self-healing thermosetting polymer for high-temperature fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composites. The proposed polymer is intended to exhibit high glass transition temperature (Tg > 550°F), high strength, stiffness, and toughness, while allowing for room temperature processing without heating the polymer. This self-healing capability is expected to increase the reliability of the composite and reduce maintenance costs for propulsion systems and other applications. The fixed-price contract is valued at $124,080.00.
