Description
NASA/history of science society fellowship in the history of space science the history of science society is the world's largest society dedicated to understanding science, technology, medicine, and their interactions with society in their historical context. Founded over eighty years ago, IT is the oldest such society. Through its publications and other activities, the society provides scholars, decision makers and the public with historical perspectives on science policy and on the potentials, achievements, and the limitations of basic and applied science. The uniqueness of HSS is evidenced by the fact that IT does not compete with the private sector for sales of its services to government agencies. By virtue of its knowledge expertise in the history of science, and by virtue of the inherent differences between a federally chartered national body of scholars and a private enterprise operated for corporate benefit, the HSS is uniquely able to conduct nationwide recruitment and independent and objective evaluations of candidates for a fellowship in the history of space science.
