About this award
This federal contract award, valued at $377,109.00, was granted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to the Planetary Science Institute (PSI), a non-profit research organization based in Tucson, Arizona. The objective of this grant is to improve access to data collected by the Cassini Ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph (UVIS) for the planetary science community, including the next generation of scientists.
The Cassini mission provided over 13 years of high-quality observation data on Saturn's satellites and rings, but only a small subset of this data has been analyzed in-depth. This grant will support PSI's efforts to make the Cassini UVIS data more accessible and facilitate its use in advancing our understanding of the Saturnian system. The grant is not associated with a set-aside program, reflecting PSI's established expertise and competitiveness in planetary science research. As a non-profit organization, PSI frequently collaborates with universities and other research partners to leverage complementary capabilities in support of NASA's strategic goals in planetary exploration and discovery.
Description
