About this award
This is a $415,367.32 grant awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to the University of Florida (UF) Division of Sponsored Research. The goal of this research is to employ Earth observations to predict the risk of cholera outbreaks in Africa, and to develop a plan to engage end-users to incorporate this information into decision-making. The research activities include work already completed at UF as well as ongoing efforts that will be transferred to a new work site. This grant does not have a set-aside designation, reflecting UF's strong research capabilities across numerous disciplines. As a major public land-grant research university, UF has an extensive portfolio of federally-funded research projects and initiatives, including contracts and grants from agencies like the Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, and National Science Foundation. This grant supports UF's efforts to address infectious disease challenges, which aligns with NASA's broader mission and priorities.
