The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) was awarded a $260,009 grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center to conduct component validation to raise the technical readiness of prototype devices used in the Far-UV Off Rowland-Circle Telescope for Imaging and Spectroscopy (FORTIS) sounding rocket-borne spectro/telescope. JHU will test the prototype devices in a vacuum testbed to progress the technology from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 to TRLs 4 and 5, and collaborate with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) to devise a plan for TRL 6 environmental testing. This grant does not have a set-aside designation and was awarded on May 9, 2019, with a completion date of May 8, 2022.
