Description
As the current MSL extended mission (EM2) now goes through another year to the end of FY19, year 1 of this proposal and budget cover an 11-month period from november 4, 2018 to september 30, 2019 at the current FY16-FY18 rate, which is $180K/12 MO. IT includes approximately 20% effort for atreya, the rest being covered by his academic appointment and other projects. Years 2-4 cover the next MSL mission extension (EM3) time period. The budget level for those years is also kept at the current level of $180K/YR adjusted for yearly inflation. However, i understand, the budgets for years 2-4 may need to be renegotiated since the actual funding level of the MSL project and SAM will not be known until after the senior review of the EM3 proposal in 2019. The budget submitted here also includes $10K/YR for michael wong s continued support of SAM. As in the past years, wong will provide that support on a consultation basis with 2-3 weeklong visits per year at the university of michigan.
