About this award

This federal contract award was issued by the Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command to Redstone Defense Systems, an Alaskan Native Corporation-owned small disadvantaged business. The $1,680,810 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract provides for an evaluation of the critical components within the Topographic Support Set (TSS) and its ancillary equipment, addressing obsolescence, repair requirements, and supportability. Redstone Defense Systems will also repair a subset of the evaluated components using residual government-furnished material. This contract supports the Navy's effort to maintain the TSS system until the replacement system is qualified and fielded, expected in 2022. Major subcontractors include Assetgenie, Inc. and Smartronix, LLC, which are providing materials and technical services in support of the contract. No set-aside designation is noted.

Description

Order 0651 statement of work (SOW) defines the effort required to provide an evaluation of the critical components within the topographic support set (TSS) and its ancillary equipment with respect to obsolescence, repair requirements, and supportability, as well as to repair a subset of the evaluated components using residual government furnished material (GFM) inventories and return them to service. In 2007, the naval air systems command (NAVAIR) partnered with the aviation & missile research development and engineering center (amrdec) prototype integration facility (PIF) to build a limited quantity of topographic support set (TSS) systems for their special forces. Since 2007, the NAVAIR has transitioned control of the asset to the naval supply systems command (NAVSUP), and prototype and integration facility (PIF) has provided periodic support for damage assessment and repair due to their unique knowledge of the system. Today, many of the TSS components have become obsolete and the sources of supply are no longer available, yet the navy must continue to maintain the system until the replacement system is qualified and fielded, which is not expected until 2022.
