Description
'other functions" NASA will conduct wind tunnels tests with hypersonic inflatable aerodynamic decelerators (hiad) test articles at the national full-scale aerodynamic complex (nfac) located at NASA ames research center, moffett field, california. Two hiad inflatable structures (is) having a stacked torus design and fabricated by airborne systems north america, a division of HDT global, will be tested in the 40-foot x 80-foot nfac wind tunnel. The 6.0 meter diameter hiad is will be tested in two configurations: a baseline design and a TRI-torus configuration that adds a torus on the AFT side near the parameter. The 3.0 meter diameter hiad is will be tested with and without a thermal protection system (TPS) layer on the forward surface. This statement of work (SOW) defines services to be provided for preparations, configuration changes and inspection of the test articles during the hiad testing at nfac. NASA will lead and manage the testing activities. The contractor shall provide technical expertise, consultation, and skilled labor for test article preparations, configuration changes and inspections during nfac testing. The effort requires travel to nfac at moffett field, CA to provide on-site support services and coordination with test activities. NASA will provide the 6.0 meter inflatable structure, a 3.0 meter inflatable structure, 3.0 meter TPS and equipment for handling and test operations.
