Reliability analyses predict a shortage of flight assets to support the user community by 2012. The objective of the tdrs l/m project is to provide two spacecraft to continue space network tracking, data, voice, and video services to the international space station (ISS), exploration programs, numerous space and earth science missions, as well as support to other government agencies. Tdrs earth relay capability has provided communications support for NASA earth-orbiting missions over the past 23 years, and the tdrs l/m project will retain this strategic capability into the next decade. The tdrs project is assigned to goddard space flight center (gsfc). Launch for tdrs l is scheduled for 2014 and launch for tdrs m is scheduled in 2016. 3.2 a standing review board is responsible for independently assessing the health of the program.
