Improved Effectiveness of Corrosion Prevention and Control Systems for Hydraulic Steel Structures
ERDC/CERL has developed an innovative sensor and monitoring system for Cathodic protection system monitoring. A prototype is being installed and evaluated at the Selden Locks in Alabama. Data will be collected during 2017 and 2018. The objective of this effort is to analyze environmental and performance data to evaluate the accuracy and benefits of the innovative sensor and data acquisition system.. Added: Jan 25, 2017 12:53 pm The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for various research and development topic areas. The ERDC consists of the Coastal and Hydraulics Lab (CHL), the Geotechnical and Structures Lab (GSL), the Environmental Lab (EL), and the Information Technology Lab (ITL) in Vicksburg, Mississippi; the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Lab (CRREL) in Hanover, New Hampshire; the Construction Engineering Research Lab (CERL) in Champaign, Illinois; and the Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) in Alexandria, Virginia. The ERDC is responsible for conducting research in the broad fields of hydraulics, dredging, coastal engineering, instrumentation, oceanography, remote sensing, geotechnical engineering, earthquake engineering, soil effects, vehicle mobility, self-contained munitions, military engineering, geophysics, pavements, protective structures, aquatic plants, water quality, dredged material, treatment of hazardous waste, wetlands, physical/mechanical/chemical properties of snow and other frozen precipitation, infrastructure and environmental issues, computer science, telecommunications management, energy, facilities maintenance, materials and structures, engineering processes, environmental processes, land and heritage conservation, and ecological processes. The BAA is available at http://erdc.usace.army.mil and is open until superseded. Proposals may be accepted at any time. For questions regarding proposals to CHL, EL, GSL, TEC & ITL, contact Mike Lee at 601-634-3903 or via email at Michael.G.Lee@usace.army.mil. For questions regarding proposals to CERL, contact Andrea Thomas at 217-373-6746 or via email at Andrea.J.Thomas@usace.army.mil. For questions regarding proposals at CRREL, contact Ashley Jenkins at 217-373-7297 or via email at Ashley.M.Jenkins@usace.army.mil. Award Notice 5/5 1/10/19, 10:58 AM Improved Ecosystem Monitoring Tools for DoD Test Ranges
The objective of this project is to develop improved ecosystem monitoring tools for chemical/biological and other military test ranges to better identify and communicate impacts of testing and coordinate testing to prevent disturbance while ensuring missions are performed without unnecessary delays. Results from this project will have potentially nationwide impact and will be shared with other military test ranges and other governmental and non-governmental entities.. Awarded Vendors: MARK G. MILLER INC. DBA SELECT ENGINEERING SERVICES. Contract Award Dollar Amount: $189,656.00. Contract Award Date: 2018-09-26. Award Notice 4/5 10/31/18, 2:36 PM Use of Data Mule Unmanned Aircraft System to Remotely Download Ground Based Sensor Data on Military Lands
The objective of this proposed applied research project is to demonstrate and validate the effectiveness of Data Mule (Mobile Ubiquitous LAN Extension) unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) at remotely down-loading data from camera traps on DoD installations and determining cost-effectiveness compared with conventional ground based methods (i.e., access by vehicle and by foot). Demonstrations on DoD installations are especially important because of the unique access restrictions due to military uses and training, which can lead to lost opportunities to collect important biological data and data loss when equipment maintenance is not done in a timely manner. Data mule UAS will allow natural resource personnel to be more versatile and effective in collecting and retrieving essential remote biological data.. Awarded Vendors: MISSION MULE LLC.
