Description
The purpose of this modification is provide continued research and development to develop a high fidelity optical tracking mount that can be reconfigured with sensor systems that are optimal for a particular mission. Current methods for performing tracking and taking optical measurements of high speed/hypersonic vehicles during flight tests are expensive and do not provide the desired levels of uncertainty in order to accurately define the vehicle performance. In addition to the cost and inaccuracy of the measurements, IT also takes many different aircraft and/or ships to collect all the information that the proposed system can provide in one flight, therefore, greatly complicating the process of collecting data.
