About this award

The contract does not have a set-aside designation. The contract was awarded on July 2, 2015, with a completion date of December 30, 2016.

Description

The objective of this activity is to develop a guidance manual for FRA track inspectors and other personnel to address track inspection issues that impact the safety and efficiency of emerging high-speed rail operations in the u.s, and in particular high-cant deficiency train operations. Its aim is to compile and disseminate knowledge about track inspection practices, procedures and technologies with a particular focus on those practices and issues associated with the high-speed operating regime where both high-speed passenger and lower speed freight trains operate, particularly on curves where high-cant deficiency operations may be required because of the significant difference in operating speeds between the passenger and freight trains.
