Lake Cushman Temporary Access Bridge Installation
Added: Aug 26, 2008 10:59 pm The USDA, Forest Service, Olympic National Forest, intends to acquire by contract the installation of a temporary bridge superstructure and approach ramp for the Lake Cushman Bridge. The Forest Service has acquired a prefabricated bridge superstructure, approximately 50 feet in length, and approach ramp, approximately 18 feet in length, for the Lake Cushman Temporary Bridge. The bridge fabricator shall deliver the bridge superstructure and approach ramp no later than October 10, 2008. The solicitation for the installation of the temporary access bridge has two options for the performance period: Oct. 10th to Oct. 31st, 2008; or July 16th to Oct. 31st, 2009. Offer prices are requested for both performance periods. The point of contact for technical requirements is Ms. Katyn Van Hecke, Project Engineer, (503) 808-2829, or email kvanhecke@fs.fed.us. Lake Cushman Bridge is a reinforced concrete girder frame bridge 200 feet long with 5 spans of lengths 12 ft, 53 ft, 70 ft, 53 ft, and 12 ft. The end spans are cantilevered. The substructure consists of four reinforced concrete bent piers, all of which are pile supported. End bents have 6 steel H-piles in a single line with a reinforced concrete cap. Interior pier bents have two lines of 6 steel H-piles each with a concrete cap supporting a solid shaft pier. The deck is reinforced concrete with no additional wearing surface. The Lake Cushman Bridge was damaged during a winter storm in December, 2007. The prefabricated, portable bridge superstructure and approach ramps will be made to the attached specifications and drawings. The steel superstructure will be fabricated in an AISC certified plant. The bridge and ramp will be delivered to a site near Lake Cushman approximately 17 miles west of Hoodsport, Washington. The timeframe for delivery of the bridge and ramp is as soon as possible after contract award, but no later than October 10, 2008. The bridge fabricator will coordinate delivery with the installation contractor, who will be responsible for unloading the structures at the site.A solicitation will be issued for the assembly of the temporary bridge under FAR Part 12 for a commercial service. This is a small business set-aside. The Government estimate is between $25,000 and $100,000. A bid bond is not required. Payment protection is required. Davis Bacon wage rates apply to this project. For additional information contact: Miley Sutherland, Contracting Officer at (360) 956-2471, or email at msutherland@fs.fed.us ; and Kathyrn Van Hecke, Project Engineer, at (503) 808-2829, or email kvanhecke@fs.fed.us
