The National Park Service awarded an $8.9 million firm fixed price contract to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to replace or repair approximately 5.1 miles of 70-kilovolt transmission line within Yosemite National Park in California. The line provides power to Yosemite Valley and surrounding areas serving up to 20,000 daily visitors and residents. Work will include repairs and replacements to address deficiencies identified in condition assessments of the towers, insulators, and conductors, with an estimated period of performance of one year beginning in January 2021. As the utility with technical expertise, certifications, equipment and experience working in the park, PG&E was deemed the only qualified party capable of performing the estimated $10 million in repairs to current standards. The funding agency is the Department of the Interior National Park Service National Office.
