About this award
This is a cooperative agreement awarded by NASA to the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) to support the Heliophysics Education and Public Outreach Forum (HEPOF). The $191,021.50 contract will fund the renewal of HEPOF's coordination infrastructure and staffing to ensure a smooth transition of products, programs, and expertise between the previous and new approaches to NASA's Science Mission Directorate (SMD) education program. The agreement will enable UC Berkeley to finalize and document HEPOF's activities in community coordination, NASA Wavelength migration, and cross-forum coordination, as well as support diversity and inclusion in NASA SMD education efforts. This is not a set-aside contract.
Description
Renewing existing sepof coordination infrastructure and staffing will help SMD to ensure a smooth transition of products, programs, and expertise between the previous and new approaches to its education program and to maintain an active role in the education and science community during the transition period. We will continue to support SMD in communicating and coordinating with its existing SMD community to complete, document, disseminate, and archive remaining education activities and support key events during the transition period. As appropriate, the forum will also support SMD in transitioning key products, programs, and expertise to its new education system. This renewal will also enable forum staff to finalize and document sepof activities in all three existing goal areas: 1 community coordination; 2 NASA wavelength migration to SMD; 3 coordination across forums and with SMD in addition to supporting issues of diversity and inclusion in NASA SMD education efforts into the future. Areas of emphasis include final evaluation of sepof activities, final implementation and transitioning of sepof coordinated community projects, documentation and dissemination of results of forum work, and archiving of sepof products and programs.
