About this award
This federal contract award to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is for the continuation of a previously funded project focused on developing an automated microfluidic platform for plasma/serum isolation from whole blood and a graphene-field effect transistor-based, amplification-free miRNA detection assay. The $63,059 cooperative agreement, awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), will allow UCSD to optimize both components of the platform to enhance efficiency, reliability, and applicability after initial testing at NASA Ames. The contract does not have a set-aside designation. This effort supports NASA's broader research and development initiatives in areas such as cognitive systems, materials science, and biomedical applications.
Description
This document outlines the request for extension to the previously funded project aimed at developing an automated microfluidic platform for plasma/serum isolation from whole blood and an amplification-free mirna detection assay using graphene-field effect transistors (gfets). Despite substantial progress, further optimization of both components is necessary to enhance efficiency, reliability, and applicability after initial testing at NASA ames. In addition, due to aran lab move to ucsd there was a GAP in performing the experiments.
