About this award
This is a $1,280,770 cooperative agreement awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center to the National Council On Radiation Protection & Measurements (NCRP), a non-profit organization based in Bethesda, MD. The purpose of the contract is to determine whether sex differences exist for radiation-induced lung cancers across exposed populations, address the issues of transferring radiation risk data from the Japanese atomic bomb survivors to the astronaut population, and evaluate the optimal ways to incorporate sex-specific lung cancer risks into NASA's lifetime risk projection model. The goal is to publish an NCRP commentary with recommendations on sex-specific lung cancer risk coefficients, transfer models, and lifetime cancer risk projections. This contract does not have a set-aside designation and runs through January 31, 2022.
