Ramona Air Attack Base (AAB) - Helitack Site Improvements
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is requesting bids for demolition services and flat work — landscape and concrete driveway updates — at the Ramona Air Attack Base (AAB) in San Diego County, with bids due November 2, 2026 and a mandatory pre-bid walk-through on October 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. A DVBE participation goal of 3% applies; a 5% small business preference is available to certified SBs or non-SBs subcontracting at least 25% of net bid price to certified SBs. The facility is located at 2498 Montecito Road, Ramona, CA 92065. Bidders must hold a valid California A-General Engineering Contractor license and Department of Industrial Relations registration as a Public Works Contractor. A bid bond of not less than 10% of total bid is required if the bid exceeds $484,000. State General Prevailing Wage Rates apply, mandatory if the bid exceeds $1,000. The contract term runs from October 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, with CAL FIRE retaining the right to extend for one additional year at the same terms, conditions, and costs. Contractor compensation is made in arrears based on the submitted rate sheet, with payment due within 45 days of invoice approval (75 days during fire season). All materials, labor, equipment, tools, permits, taxes, transportation, and fees are the contractor's responsibility. Funding is state funds; all bid-related costs are the bidder's responsibility. The award will be made to the lowest responsive responsible bidder, with small business and DVBE incentives applied during evaluation. Questions are due October 26, 2026. Public bid opening is November 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
