SOW
The ANG has both a state and federal mission. The state mission is to provide protection of life and property, and to preserve peace, order, and public safety. The ANG’s federal mission is to maintain well-trained, well-equipped personnel capable of rapidly deploying across the globe in response to war or national emergencies. In order to successfully meet the demands of this mission, the ANG must meet its responsibility for managing its land and water resources throughout the United States and its possessions. Included within these responsibilities is management of cultural resources. In accordance with Section 110 of the National Historic
Preservation Act (NHPA), Department of Defense Instruction 4715.16 (Cultural Resources Management), and Air Force Instruction 32-7065 (Cultural Resources Management Program), ANG must institute a program to identify, locate, evaluate, protect, and consult with federally recognized Tribes regarding these resources. Mission support is the goal for all ANG programs, including ATEP.
