About this opportunity

The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center is procuring 130 immersion thermocouples (NSN: 6685-01-273-7708) specifically manufactured by Fairbanks Morse Defense for repairing and restoring Main Diesel Engines on 210' WMEC Class Cutters. These thermocouples must meet precise specifications including a steel corrosion-resistant protective tube with 5-1/8" length, AWG 14 wire size, one connector receptacle, and 13-5/8" overall length, and each unit must be individually packaged and marked according to MIL-STD-2073-1E and MIL-STD-129R standards. Offerors must have valid DUNS numbers, be registered with SAM, and provide their Tax Information Number with their submission. The procurement follows simplified acquisition procedures under FAR 13 as a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items, with quotes being evaluated based on the contractor's ability to meet the strict packaging requirements and delivery specifications. The submission deadline is August 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, with quotes to be submitted via email to Nina.m.crosby@uscg.mil.

This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and is conducted as a sole-source acquisition with Fairbanks Morse Defense as the original equipment manufacturer and only known qualified source. The estimated total contract value is $80,407.60, calculated at $618.52 per thermocouple unit for the required quantity of 130 pieces. Delivery must be completed no later than November 6, 2025, on an F.O.B. destination basis to the USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center at 2401 Hawkins Point Road, Baltimore, MD 21226. The justification for sole-source procurement stems from the Coast Guard's lack of proprietary manufacturing data rights, making Fairbanks Morse Defense the only responsible source with the necessary technical specifications, design capabilities, and quality assurance documentation. The NAICS code 333618 applies with a business size standard of 750 employees, and the Contracting Officer's Representative will continue conducting market research to identify potential alternative vendors for future procurements.
