About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center (AFMC) is seeking to procure a Portable Shearography System for non-destructive testing of aircraft structures. The system must include both vacuum and thermal inspection modes with a green laser for speckle imaging, specifically designed to inspect composite and metallic bonded structures. The equipment requirements include a mobile unit capable of inspecting aircraft flight control surfaces, panels, and doors, with a minimum part radius of curvature of 2.5 feet. The solicitation will be conducted electronically through Beta.sam.gov, with proposals to be submitted by April 30, 2025. Contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible, and the procurement will utilize NAICS code 334519 with a size standard of 600 employees.

This is a small business set-aside contract with a firm fixed price type anticipated, and the estimated period of performance is 180 days after receipt of order (ARO). The procurement includes not just the Portable Shearography System, but also requires an image processing computer, shearography image processing software suite, an operation manual, transit cases, and on-site operator training. The contract will be awarded under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c)(1), with Sheridan Robison serving as the Contracting Specialist. While specific award value is not disclosed, the comprehensive nature of the equipment and training suggests a significant investment in advanced non-destructive testing capabilities for aircraft maintenance and inspection. Interested small businesses in the measuring and controlling device manufacturing sector are encouraged to submit proposals that meet the detailed technical specifications.
