About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published a justification and approval for other than full and open competition to modify existing contracts with GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Sanofi Pasteur, and Seqirus for the purchase of up to 50 million additional doses of inactivated and live attenuated influenza vaccines for $701 million. The justification seeks to increase influenza vaccinations during the 2020-2021 season through the existing contracts to originally support routine annual vaccinations, in order to reduce the strain on the healthcare system due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CDC will oversee vaccine distribution to state health departments and large city immunization programs.
