About this opportunity
The US Geological Survey (USGS) Office of Acquisitions and Grants is conducting market research to identify qualified businesses capable of providing PacBio Revio genome sequencing for the rough-skinned newt (Taricha granulosa). The agency seeks testing laboratories with expertise in advanced genomic sequencing technologies, specifically targeting contractors who can meet detailed performance requirements including producing sequence data with an N50 > 15,000 nucleotides and > 100 GB of data per flow cell. Interested vendors must submit electronic capability statements to yangzhideng@usgs.gov by May 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM PST, using the Testing Laboratory NAICS code 541380. This sources sought announcement is a preliminary market research effort to inform the government's acquisition strategy and does not guarantee a contract award. Responses will be evaluated based on the vendor's ability to meet the technical specifications outlined in the attached Statement of Work.
The procurement is not set aside for any specific business category, allowing all responsible sources to compete. While no specific award value is explicitly stated, the NAICS size standard is $16.5 million, indicating potential scale for qualified contractors. The project involves sequencing across 12 Revio flow cells, with a three-month performance period beginning after contract award and a requirement to upload raw data to the NCBI database by February 2027. The government will not reimburse any costs associated with preparing response materials, and this notice is purely for market research purposes. Potential contractors should carefully review the detailed performance work statement, which includes specific technical requirements for library preparation, sequencing, potential ISOSEQ library preparation, and data transfer protocols.
