The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA) is seeking a contractor to replace the emergency phone system at the C.W. Bill Young Veterans Medical Center in Bay Pines, Florida. The procurement involves a turn-key system replacement that requires removing existing emergency communication infrastructure and installing new equipment, specifically 8 emergency cellular phone towers and 5 emergency hard-wired phones in the parking garage. Contractors will need to provide all labor, materials, tools, and supervision for the project, with strict requirements including coordination with VA Office of Information & Technology (OI&T), applying proper safety protocols, and comprehensive testing of all call stations. The solicitation (36C24825Q0623) is scheduled for release on April 18, 2025, with responses due by April 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. The contract is exclusively set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBC) under NAICS category 238210 for Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation Contractors. The project involves removing 8 existing emergency phone towers and 5 wall-mounted emergency phones, with replacement equipment including cellular and hard-wired communication stations. Contractors must ensure all new equipment is current and supported by manufacturers, coordinate phone line and SIM card installations, and provide a comprehensive list of materials for VA engineering approval. The contracting officer for this opportunity is Michael A. Shook, who can be contacted at michael.shook@va.gov. While no specific budget range was provided, the complexity of the project suggests a significant investment in emergency communication infrastructure for the medical center.
