About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology seeks one microfocus X-ray generator capable of a focal spot size less than 1 micrometer and output over 70 Watts at electron beam voltages exceeding 90 kV. The X-ray generator will be used to produce high resolution 3D X-ray images of samples for NIST's neutron imaging program at its Gaithersburg, Maryland facility. Quotes are due no later than January 22, 2024 and must meet the requirements specified in the attached documents, including those for spot size, power, and voltage. Questions regarding the solicitation must be submitted in writing to the Contract Specialist by the date specified.
There is no set-aside designated for this procurement. The associated NAICS code is 334515 for instrument manufacturing and the small business size standard is 750 employees. Payment of 100% will be made after installation, acceptance testing at NIST's Gaithersburg facility demonstrating the X-ray generator meets all requirements, and receipt of an invoice. Responses must be submitted based on the commercial lead time to deliver one X-ray generator FOB destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland within one year of award.

Amendment 0002: Extend solicitation response date to January 22, 2024 @ 11am and provide the following answer to the question submitted:
QUESTION: Does the government intend to put the control software on an existing computer or do we need to provide one?
ANSWER: NIST will install control software on a NIST PC and thus the Contractor will not need to provide a computer.
