Mali Peacebuilding, Stabilization, and Reconciliation Project

Added: Oct 10, 2017 12:44 pm The purpose of this activity is to improve prospects for long-term peace, security, and reconciliation by building trust between conflict-affected communities and their government, strengthening the ability of communities to mitigate and manage conflict, prioritize and implement their community's most pressing development needs, and empowering marginalized youth as change agents. The goal is to see measurable improvement in the efficiency, effectiveness and capacities of the local communities to be more resilient to the conflict and violent extremism by the end of this contract.

This activity will achieve this through three objectives:

1) Objective 1 - Community resilience to violence and conflict reinforced
2) Objective 2 - Inclusive governance and civic engagement strengthened in conflict-affected communities
3) Objective 3: Youth empowerment and strengthened resilience to violent extremism

Given the fragile nature of the Malian state and the need to implement and show tangible results with the Algiers Peace Accord, USAID/Mali's Peace and Democratic Governance (PDG) Office anticipates quick impact activities that respond to community needs through tangible development investments and that challenge the worldview of individuals susceptible to extremism.
