The intent of this solicitation and any resultant contract is to secure a Firm-Fixed Price contract for Contractor operated and maintained Type III Fixed-Wing Airtanker services meeting the specifications of this contract. The primary use of Type III Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) under this contract will be for Initial Attack (IA) of wildland fires. These SEATs are expected to carry moderate loads of retardant to fires in the beginning stages following initiation. These immediate response actions occur in the first burning periods and are intended to support personnel either on scene or enroute to the incident in containing the fire when it is least costly to do so. For initial attack, airtankers spread over several locations allow for multiple response actions and therefore, more effective. The aircraft will be located in John Day, OR. The Government may designate alternate bases for temporary operation. The aircraft will start approximately on July 4th for a 70-day Mandatory Availability Period (MAP). This contract is 6-days on with 1-day off (60-work days). The performance period for these contracts will be 5 years from the time of award (base + 4 options). The solicitation package and all associated documents will be posted to this site on or around March 1, 2016 with offers due 30 days later.
