About this opportunity
The Naval Sea Systems Command published a Limited/Sole Source Justification Notice to replace fire damaged cables onboard the USS IWO JIMA (LHD-7) by awarding a sole source contract modification to General Dynamics NASSCO-Norfolk. Due to an onboard fire that extensively damaged over two cableways and dozens of cables, some with exposed conductors, presenting an extreme safety risk, as well as the ship's operational schedule requiring repairs by January 18, 2023, full and open competition procedures were deemed to cause an unacceptable delay. The sole source award modification, estimated at $1 million, was made on an existing contract with General Dynamics NASSCO-Norfolk awarded on December 22, 2021 to restore the ship's mission capabilities affected by the fire damage.
