Notice text

This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested.

The National Institute of Health, Clinical Center (CC) intends to award a Firm-Fixed price purchase order to Cepheid, Sunnyvale, California 94089 on a sole source basis to provide maintenance service for two (2) GeneXpert® Systems already onsite, GeneXpert (GX16-12), S/N 821814 and GeneXpert (GX4-4), S/N 704298. The Department of Laboratory medicine utilizes the systems for rapid detection of multidrug resistant organisms and tuberculosis that are of epidemiological significance in clinical patient samples from patients enrolled in NIH protocols.

Cepheid is the sole proprietary of the GeneXpert® Systems, and is the only vendor that can provide this maintenance, as well as phone and on-site service for the systems. Because this involves proprietary technology, no other vendor can provide the service required for the GeneXpert® Systems. Period of Performance shall be for a base year of twelve (12) months and two (2) twelve-month option years from the award date.

This acquisition is being conducted under the authority of the FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(i) allowing the Contracting Officer (CO) to solicit from one source.

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219 with a large business standard size of $22.0 million.

This notice of intent to award is not a request for competitive quotations.  Interested concerns capable of providing the same products or services as described in this notice may submit a capability statement outlining their capabilities.  No solicitation is available.
