About this opportunity

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) Office of Acquisitions and Grants is seeking to procure one new Aqua-Life BioStream Model BP25G gas-powered fish pump or an equivalent alternative through a small business Request for Quotations (RFQ 140G0225Q0225). The pump is specifically intended for transporting cold water fish species at the Great Lakes Science Center's Tunison Laboratory of Aquatic Science in Cortland, NY. Key technical requirements include a 10.2HP GXV390 gas engine with 170 GPM output, a 2.5-inch powder coated cast aluminum pump capable of moving 4 tons of fish per hour, and the ability to transport fish up to 1000 feet horizontally and 24.6 feet vertically. The procurement will utilize Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 12 commercial item procedures and Part 13 simplified acquisition procedures, with award made to the lowest-priced responsive quote meeting all specifications. Vendors must submit electronic quotations by 2:30 PM MST on February 17, 2025, with any questions due by February 12, 2025.

The solicitation is a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 333914 (Measuring, Dispensing, and Other Pumping Equipment Manufacturing) with a size standard of 750 employees. All vendors must be registered and active in the System for Award Management (SAM) prior to submitting a quotation. The contract requires delivery within 120 days after receipt of order to the Cortland, NY location. While a specific award value is not explicitly stated, the procurement is for a single unit of specialized fish pumping equipment. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code and the specific product requirements suggest this is a specialized procurement targeting manufacturers of scientific and commercial pumping equipment with capabilities for aquatic research and transportation applications.
